It's technically not quite LF, however it's a prototype for the 5x4 and 6x17 camera I'm about to make. I've identified what I really want (on occasions) is a camera capable of shooting both formats, an extension back for a 5x4 camera is no use as I always use a 75mm Super Angulon for 6x17 and that's not possible,
So last month wanting a MF camera with movements I built a smaller prototype, my Canada camera (built specially for a 10 day visit). This camera uses the track bed from a Quarter plate Speed graphic buy with a 5x4 Pacemaker front standard and lens board so I can use my Crown/Speed and Super Grapic lenses/boards.
It's not perfect, I can improve the rear fittings but it works well. negatives are very sharp even at wider apertures. I have a second Quarter plate GSpeed Graphic track bed and using this camera has shown it's great with a 203mm f7.7 Ektar to about 6 ft, so I'm on the right track. The new 5x4/6x17 camera will actually use a Super Graphic front standard which despite comments to teh contrary I've managed to modify to fit any Speed (Crown) Graphic after some heavy grinding. I'm actually going to modify the front standard to take Wista/Linhof boards something I've done with other cameras using adapters.
The bellows were temporary . ones I replaced for another member when I serviced his Speed Graphic, they were patched I just recovered quickly as I had no time to make new.
The new camera will probably use a De Vere 5x4 back (I have two surplus) and a purpose built 6x17 roll film back, it'll be a touch wider than a Pacemaker Graphic to take the 6x17 back, but still quite small, no longer than the camear shown here. It's been a slow project but the camera here is most of the way there

Almost finished. Originally a 6x9cm Brooks Veriwide for a 120/220 roll-film back
w/47mm F/5.6 lens with focusing helix, now with a clip-on universal 4x5" back,
& hand made 6x12 viewfinder (not by me) (will be modifying for more vertical),
tripod mount.
It can still use the original 6x9cm back, plus 6x12cm and of course 4x5"
Really like what you've done here, especially with the option of using 6x9 and 6x12 backs too. Wish I had a helical and cone for my 47XL to go on a Sinar Handy I just got. Had a blast shooting about 20 sheets this weekend with a 65mm lens - but wider would be awesome .
I just picked this Handy last week from an estate sale. It came with a 65mm f/8 and 90mm f/8 SA, older single-coated models - just testing it out this weekend on a trip. Anyway, I don't have any extra helixes and I do think hacking the current setup would be unfortunate, so my initial thought is that I could simply buy one of those moderately priced Chinese helicals and stick it on a Sinar board with a simple extension piece if needed to reach infinity focus. I've never used one so I'm not sure if that would work but I can't imagine why not.
Corran, where's the photo showing off your Handy?
