Hi, I am new to LF Photography. I have revived this old (ca 1900) Sanderson, Tropical Model 4X5, belonged to my great grandfather. I have replaced the original "Automat Shutter, Beck Convertible Double Aplanar f-7.7, 6"" lens with a more modern Copal Shutter w/a Schneider-Kreutsnach, Symmar-S, 5.6/150mm lens. Also, since the viewing glass and film holder are so non-standard, I made a new back and viewing glass. Now I can use a Polaroid 405 Instant film, a 6X6 and 6X7 120 roll film back, as well a standard (slightly modified) 4X5 film holders. Now I am waiting for my FP100s polaroid films to arrive so that I can start the picture taking.
axs810, its really easy to out handle as long as you have a dedicated camera rail. its a Linhof part that is installed on a camera instead of the strap. if you want to put it on a SG you wont be able to use original screws, therefore you will need to find longer screws with locking nuts. after that uou need to mark hols and drill them in a wooden body of Speed Graphic. be careful no to drill in to a focal plain shutter mechanism! finally its good to use big washers or a plate on the other side in order to make good and solid connection. dont forget this thing with AeroEktar can get heavy and you want your handle to be solid as a rock! for the rest its easy, there is no light leaks because this is n a body of camera far away from bellows. as for handle adjustments or wire it works same as on the linhof. handle is handle. now alighting viewfinder is a whole different can of worms!
