Thread: Show off your Large Format camera!

Jody - it looks like a 5x7 with a 5x7 back from an 8x10 "adapted" (guessing at the film size, but something like that) ... yeah, not the prettiest solution. If nothing's really messed up maybe you can sell that back and use the proceeds to buy a proper back. You'll probably also want to look for an extension bed. And new bellows. And a lens.

    But otherwise, it looks perfect

Yep. It needs new bellows, repairs to the bed, a bed extension, some sort of mount, a new back, a new front standard, a lens.... In hindsight, it wasn't such a good buy, as even the back that I was counting on turned out to be an incomplete sliding affair that is slightly smaller than my 8x10s. It was fastened with strips of brass that were cut and bent into L-brackets and screwed into place. There were several other things screwed into various parts of the camera, the bellows were WIRED into that crooked shape (if I were to wire bellows into some sort of shape, I think I would try to make them straight?). The shutter was all there, but someone cut a diamond shape out of one of the blades so I can't even re-use that. It's currently sitting on a shelf while I wonder if there is anything to be salvaged off of it.

I did get a mint Super Kinax 6x9 folder with a SOM Berthiot lens while I was there, so at least I have something to play with.

Christopher, the bed was in the frame of one out of two images I made that day. It probably had to do with the camera movements and subject-to-camera distance.

The iPhone shot on post #1493, facing the Manhattan Bridge, did not have the bed in the photo. Another shot, this one of the Brooklyn Bridge, did have the bed in frame.
