Nicest thing anyone has said to me all week.
Yes, there is a focus lock, and the secondary knobs on the front standard seem to let the grip be loosened just enough to add some tilt without losing the rise/fall. I'm not sure what you are referring to as additional metal on the front standard. My serial number is 083, lower than yours despite having just shipped from the factory last week.
Weird,
I was also just looking at pictures of the Chamonix 8x10 and I noticed that the older walnut colored cameras also had the features yours did, so now it's really confusing to me because the dark walnut colored ones are the original model before they made the upgrades.
I've bothered Hugo so much these days that I don't want to bug him for something that is essentially irrelevant to me currently because it's not going to change anything, but it is really strange and trying to figure out what's going on here.

æThis is french style tailboard camera for 13x18cm. I don't think it is a later "eastern block" camera, but from France around 1900. You can see where the 2 sets of brass fitments were mounted on a horizontal/vertical side. Do a search for reisekamera or chambre de voyages and you will find similar (complete!) cameras.
