Question Best noise reduction software for MAC/CS3?

I am looking for a good noise reduction program to use for image files scanned in Silverfast AI. I have tried the program's built-in GANE feature but I had heard that a dedicated program like NeatImage might be better.

Any suggestions on which of these might be best ?

I have Noise Ninja. It works well. I've heard good things about neat image too though.

Yes, I've used both too. Noise Ninja is easier, Neat Image has additional controls that can be useful, high, medium, and low frequency filtration controls for example, but it also sometimes crashes.
I find both need to be backed off from the defaults to remain photographically convincing, or faded, or used locally.

Check out this link. This guy tested 22 noise reduction products! It is little dated (2005), though.

I also use Neat Image and like it. Agree that backing it off a little is needed to give convincing results.

Picture Cooler is rated 3rd after Noise Ninja and Neat Image. It's a shareware product and works pretty well for what you pay for it - $15! I use NN with the stand alone and plugin versions.

You can try all three before purchasing.

Noiseware is also another interesting possibility.

DXO optics has noise reduction capabilities too but is pricy.

Sorry, got the names mixed up, Noiseware is the one I liked over Neat Image, along with Ninja.
    Trying the demos is wise.
