Question Re: Help: how to scale output with Silverfast ???

    Kirk,

You are a proponent of making needed major adjustment in SilverFast AI prior to making the final scan and then tweaking with small adjustments later.

What is your opinion of SF HDR mode? Essentially making what SF calls a RAW scan and editing that file later in their HDR program?

Just so everyone is clear. I have talked about flipping and adjusting negative "raw" scans in PS many times. I do not like it for high noise scanners, IE, all of the consumer flatbeds. If you import a noisy file and then apply major adjustments to it, you run the risk of enhancing the noise. Tyler may say the opposite, I think, but he is using SF on a low noise drum scanner.

As per their HDR raw conversion program. I have never used it. Such a procedure works well on Imacons when you are renting time on them and then taking the files home to adjust, but why bother on your own scanner? Why would I want to? I don't get it.....have you tried it?
    Thanks,
    Kirk
