    eh, assuming the scratch does have an effect and you've got the budget, I say why not use it anyway. It is exactly these sorts of things that may spark a bit of creativity. Softness is hardly a bad thing if put to good use.

    Yeah, I sent the lens back today. I am switching from 6x7cm to 4x5 for a reason, no sense to start out with a flawed enlargement lens. Thanks for the good replies.
