There has been some confusions late regarding an ebay store selling Chamonix stuff. Some members thought that I run that eBay store and have bought cameras there. No, it is not run by Hugo. That store was set up by a local Chamonix dealer in Beijing to the great displeasure of Chamonix factory and I have no relationship with that store. I am Chamonix US representative in California.
I saw that yesterday...and the prices seemed higher than what I'd seen here or somewhere.
When will there be a US (yours) based website for them? Or is there?
If the factory does not force the re-seller to close the shop, the reality is that they are probably not that displeased. For the consumer it really does not matter because it will be net cost that drives the sales. Hopefully for your sake they do not start selling cameras. Shipping costs are a push since the source destination is similar. You need to be able to sell some semblance of improved dialog with the factory for possible warranty work or it will not be worth your time in the long run.
I am of the opinion that the Chinese do whatever the hell the want to do. All I want to do is make photographs.
