Printing 4x6 prints on Epson 2200

This problem has me pulling my hair out ...

According to documentation the Epson 2200 has minimum borders of 3mm at the top, left and right, but 14mm at the bottom ! So when printing a 4x6 print it looks silly.

When I used a Quadtone RIP to print, it printed it with nice 4mm borders all-round.

Why can't I do that with the Epson Driver ?

Has anybody seen or solved this issue ?

    Thanks,
    Ron

Why not just use the Quadtone RIP and be done with it?

I need to do more colour than B&W otherwise I'd use it all the time ....

I recently bought a nice paper trimmer on Ebay for $20.00 and I've found it very convenient. Some camera or photo printing stores will let you use theirs. Then you could try 1 print on 5x7 or 2 prints on 8x10 inch paper and just trim them. However I am not sure of the Epson workaround maybe someone will chime in about that.

    Thanks for the suggestion John,
My local store does let its customers use their Rotatrim Pro.

I liked it so much I now have two, a 24" and an 18".

My issue is that I don't think that it's acceptable for me to print a 4x6" image on a 5x7" paper and trim it ...

I've never bothered to print 4x6 with borders, I like the look of borderless prints and set it for that. Have you tried setting the driver for printing maximum size when doing the border? It may be clipping the file without that set. You will get a warning when setting that about image quality degrading near the edges but I've never noticed that happening.

    Hi Gary,

The driver software doesn't really give you too many options, except for the margins. Even when you set the margins to zero all around it still puts borders on.

I'm not sure the 2200 is designed for borderless printing - unless you use the roll-paper feeder ...
