    hi-res scanning (iqsmart) question

i've been driving myself to distraction trying to achieve large oil mounted scans on an iqsmart3, i'm working with negs doing 16bit captures and going for the whole curve.

ok, i've got everything clean and i can get really nice scans for the most part, however there is the odd one or two, like the enclosed which have a pronounced yellowish cast on the left and right side of the image... which does NOT appear when dry-mounted and scanned at the same resolution ... has anyone seen this before?.

it's NOT the workflow, i've been reading the threads for months now and have all the oil, glass, filmclean and mounting process worked through and i have scanned other negs, using the same paramiters, and they are clean as a whistle...

    your frustratedly, thanks as ever

i've been working on this problem and it seems that the glass i'm putting over the neg. is not keeping it perfectly flat and slight edge curl is producing the above.

such a slim margin of error.

second thoughts, it scans fine on another iqsmart3, same procedure.

    back to the drawing board...

I am confused about your mounting method. Normal fluid mounting procedure is to place a piece of mylar over the negative to be scanned. Why are you putting glass over the negative?

i've mounted using both methods (mylar & glass) with the same results, with this and other negatives, so this is not an issue with this particular problem.

    thanks, adrian
