    A knarled tree that’s quite happy on this high knoll – even if ablaze with lightning in summer, and covered by snow the rest of the year. Plus a crop of mid-July weeds at trunk’s base.

    (Pioneer Mountains at 9,000 feet, S.W. Montana)

    Bruce, nicely done.

    Another recent image from Kootenay National Park, while driving home from Invermere, British Columbia. Unfortunately, a major snow storm struck my path through the Columbia Valley shortly before I captured this image, where the first large damp snow flakes started to dust the trees. My drive home lasted more than eight hours, and I only had to travel 135km to the Alberta border, so I figured why not take a few images during the journey home. Traveling ten to twenty kilometres per hour can be quite an arduous chore in the mountains...
