That's around the time I'll be there with my mob of second grade cub scouts, fixing picnic tables and cleaning fire rings in the valley.

After I fish the last of my surviving cubs out of the Merced river at El Portal I'll dry them off and take them to the exhibit

Is there an "art" belt loop in this for us?

I have taken my 3 boys to the opening a couple of times to graze the food tables! One evening we took the boys for a walk into the meadows at night -- one of them jumped off a log onto what he thought was the ground -- but it was only sticks and leaves floating on the surface of the river. Being February, we took his upper clothes off and he wore my jacket for the walk back. The boys were probably 6 or 7 years old.

I found this year's entry. An 4x10 platinum/palladium print taken last February.

Thanks for sharing. These are all terrific. Michael, is that the base of Lower Yosemite?

Since we're on the low water theme, here's that image of the swimmer below Vernal taken 9/12/01.

Thanks Keith. I think Michael's might be the base of Bridalveil -- nice image, Michael!

Indeed, it is at the base of Bridalveil. Thanks for the nice words, guys.

I swear to you, Vaughn, I'd never seen your similar photo until now! Ah, the 'cost' of photographing an icon.....

I think it is great! Perhaps it is good that my process reverses the image! (Which is why I usualy don't make carbon prints of half Dome!) What I'd like to see is someone photograph there in the Spring! Now that would be a challenage...especially LF! One would need an underwater LF and scuba equipent (unless one could breathe concentrated mist!)

I did have the curator of the Ansel Adams gallery scratching his head due to a carbon print that had Yosemite Falls in it! That particular icon has been seen enough in photos to be noticable printed reversed!

An image I had accepted into the Renaissance show a few years back was a nice one. Then last year I was looking in John Sexton's book of tree images -- and there was the same image. (Okay, slightly different light and slightly different camera position...and of course mine was better) I used it to introduce myself here a year ago...

But that is all a part of the fun of photographing in Yosemite -- I have found several favorite images I have made after-the-fact in The Range of Light. But I still consider them my images.

    Looking forward to seeing you!

I love what I see here. I may just try to come up on the 29th with the 8x10 and 8x20. I would love to see this fine work in person.

It looks like the valley really got hammered in the last day or so. Wish I was there! Good luck and good light to those that are.
