Here is the underside of an aqueduct that once carried the Erie Canal over Onondaga Creek here in downtown Syracuse. It is now undergoing some renovations, in part to deal with the damages done during a disastrous collapse in 1907, when the barrel vault supporting the west chamber (second picture) collapsed and allowed the water of the canal to drain out. The City's engineers allowed me head down there in the past couple of weeks to record things before they cover over the evidence of the 1907 collapse.
