How To Replace Clasp on a Pelican Case

So one of the plastic clasps on my Pelican 1510 cracked and to their credit, Pelican sent me a pair of replacement clasps with pins. But for the life of me, I can not pound out the existing pin... any advice?

At least they sent something. Unlike my Timbuk2 carry-on, which also has an unlimited lifetime warranty but whose customer service sent me to the "spare parts order form" when their plastic clasp broke.

Can you saw away the broken clasp so you can get at the middle of the pin? You could then grab it with vise grips and work it out.
