You could use a tabloid scanner like the Microtek 9800 or 1000, or the Epson 1600 or 10000. Both will allow you to scan a 11X14 film in one pass with sufficient quality for about 2X- 3X magnification.

    Thanks.
Are these (Epson) scanners on par with the 4990 in terms of scan quality?

The Microtek 1000 and Epson 10000 are not far behind the 4990, and for scanning 11X14 film they should give very good results.

I have an Epson 10000xl and it does a fine job on 2 1/4" film on up. I've scanned many 4x5's with it and I like the fact that the focus is adjustable electrically both manualy and automaticaly. It's a 12 1/4 x 17 1/2" scanner btw.

OTOH, if you are looking for much better quality than the prosumer scanners, virtually all of the high-end flatbed scanners will handle 11x14 film with ease.

The best scan from an 11x14 would be a Drum Scanner.
You can poster the empire state building with a good quality drum scan.

True except that many drum scanners can't handle 11x14 film. Which means, if you are going to use a lab be sure to ask if their scanner can handle film that large.

    Ted, Your correct.
Ive been spoiled by the scanners that ive used. On my drum i can mount up to 16x20.
Depending on the lab the max realistic size could be 8x10 to 16x20.
Many of the older drum scanners could only mount alittle larger than 8x10.
A good example comes from the Optronics series, Aztek Premiere and some of the ICG's.
The Hell scanner series had interchangeable drums that came in various sizes.
