    If photography is to be reduced to the tired old film vs. digital debate, let's not forget that beyond resolving power, the ability of the media to capture color is also important. For an artist using a camera, this is probably more so than it is to the techy using photography as his venue, but it deserves consideration when deciding which tool will best do the job.
    Just curious if you read the original question? In this thread we were responding to a specific technical question by a forum member. To go in the direction you suggest would amount to hijacking the thread. BTW quite a few of the respondents here have a significant track record as artists and enjoy discussing issues related to that in threads where it is appropriate.

    FYI Imacons are not drum scanners and the "virtual drum scan" phrase is just an advertising ploy to make you think they approach drum scan quality. They don't, though they are certainly better than the prosumer flatbeds.
