The plunger of that cable extends >36mm to both cock and trigger the shutter, not many (or none) other cable releases do that.

Yes, this is for the Sinar auto shutter, and used ones can be hard to find. There are two cables. One cable releases the shutter, and one cable is connected to the camera back and stops down DB-mount lenses when the filmholder is inserted.

Quite pricey as new ($278 at B&H) and, as noted, not many used ones on the market. A great shutter system for barrel lenses.

IMO the second cable connects the back to the shutter and also auto-closes the shutter when you insert a filmholder into the back, also without use of a Sinar lensboard.

BTW: I build such a shutter into an old Seneca Competitor View, which I got for this purpose because it has a much more stable front frame than my Improved View so it can carry the weight of the shutter. The second cable for auto-close I dont use on this camera, I think the pressure is so high that I only use it with the metal back on my Cambo.

    Regards

    Martin
