This has a very nice intangible feeling of presence. It breathes.

    Re: Flowers Anyone?

Chrysanthemum beds at the Chicago Botanic Garden (no, not taken this week), all details regarding the shot (camera Master Technika) lost to an unfortunate and ill-timed house cleaning (I had nothing to do with that, I assure you). Seems to me I read in a book sometime that patterns and textures are good for elements of composition, so I made a picture, for better or worse. Literacy may not always be such a good thing.

These turned out OK on a recent trip to a public garden in Palo Alto, CA:

Frustrated Pansies... was too breezy, DOF wasn't what I was looking for. Took my glasses off for a minute to rub my eyes... everything was blurry. Epiphany! Immediately deliberately threw the camera out of focus and hunted for compositions. This is the first of a series I plan on doing now "Color without Form". Printed BIG on watercolor paper.

I was amazed at how beautiful the color was when you didn't have to worry about form. Gimmicky? Maybe. Who knows... maybe I'll go for my MFA (yes, that's a jab)! One day everything will look like this to me anyway.
