Your name is your brand. I am in the process of setting up my own name as a website, which most people in the business have told me is the best way to market your work. Besides, you have an easy enough to remember (and spell) name.

Consider the implications of domain names, and trademarks.

You mean you're not going to call it "Herr Bremerhaven Wedding and Portrait Studio"?

You must be referring to my APUG user name, and you should know I don't do weddings.

It can help to have something easy to spell, unlike the name of the current business, which I basically inherited after my business partner developed an in-operable brain tumor. I have barely done any updates on my current site in the last three years, and will likely take it offline in another year or so; that includes nearly two years of large format work. The full name of the current business is Alliance Graphique Studio, originally coined by my former business partner to sound pleasing to some clients we had in Canada. Then the whole mess of trying to get a manageable internet domain name to fit that, and the unfortunate final result using two L's next to each other AllGStudio . . . hopefully someone can learn from my mistakes on this.

If I knew then what I am now learning, I would have likely had that Arca Swiss Misura already. Hopefully that fits into my future.

    Ciao!

Nowadays, I'd research and secure the best set of web name/addresses I could, and use that set to choose the business name.

www.register.com is one of many sites you can use to search for available names.

    Best,
