Update on LF Info Book Project

Hey Frank! Couple questions came to mind on my commute in this AM:

1) Did the copies you and Cyrus got have the same problems? i.e. on image #123, there was a green vertical line running through the subject's head? If they were different problems per each image, that would point to poor QC on Lulu's part even more.

2) Did you talk to someone over at Lulu? Or is this one of those businesses that "forgot" to publish their phone number? Curious what they might say about this.... "Oh, the printer f*cked up that day, sorry, we'll send another." or "For $30 that's as good as you get, so piss off."

Lulu "lost" the order info and failed to respond to my customer service request... and I haven't seen Cyrus's copy but it sounds like they are remarkably similar.

Not that it excuses it, but I see that Lulu went through a major interface update and I think my first job was lost in the transition. But changing the website shouldn't affect the printing...

Thanks! Well, I ordered a copy and I'm also going to print a couple pages from the Fiery printer at work. See how it comes out there. One other question (forgive me): Are there some blank pages or is my version of Adobe having problems rendering some pages? As an example, pages 46, 50, 52, 56, and 58 are blank. (or rather, appear blank)

Those are blank so that single photos can appear in a spread. Each photographer got a spread, so if there is only one print there is a corresponding blank page.

If I had made the PDF specific for online viewing I would have dropped those blanks but I am a lazy sod.

So I did a print test (three images: two B&W and one color) on a color HP 3800 printer and on the Canon Fiery printer here at work. The 3800 yielded crappy results. The Fiery was pretty sweet.

My company would be damn pissed if I ran off (and subsequently sold) copies of a book using their printer. But it opens up the possibility of possibly finding a printer who will print this on a Fiery.... Then we just need it bound in some manner.
