Epson 4870 scan problem - please help!

I purchased a refurbished Epson 4870 last year, and the few times I used it to scan my 4x5 film, it worked great. However, today I tried scanning some 4x5 negs, and the preview window shows two partial images when scanning one sheet of film, and four partial images when scanning 2 sheets of film. I've cleaned the glass, and followed all the instructions, but can't seem to make it scan correctly. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this problem?

Curtis,

It sounds like there are 35mm marquees on the prescan area that may be left over from a previous scanning session. If you are using the Epson software, you should be able to delete the selected marquees and start over with a full prescan. Look in the upper left for an icon to do that.

I wonder if the Thumbnail might be having that effect. Try right clicking on the vertical button just to the right of the Preview button and select "Normal".

Just to hijack this thread a little bit, but relating to the Epson 4870 scanner, how can one scan a 5x7 negative with it? Is there a special holder one can purchase or other alternative? I have not had any luck scanning any film larger than a 4x5 with this scanner. Thanks. Jon
