My Deardorff 8x10 is equipped with a 1/4" tripod thread, which seems to be grevi ously small for such a large camera. Is this common to all Deardorffs, or just some of them? I've been trying to think of ways around this potential weakness and haven't had much luck. I thought about taking it to a machine shop and havi ng a 3/8" thread milled, but am not sure if that would work. I also thought abo ut trying to use something like an Arca Swiss type QR system to reduce wear on t he thread, but am not sure how good of an idea it would be to use such a (compar atively) small mounting surface to support an 8x10 (those QR plates aren't exact ly huge). Any ideas? Many thanks in advance.
