Feisol Frenzy !! Which model for 8x10 ?

Hi guys,

I see that the Feisol Tripods have created quite a stir here ...

Many of the threads which I've found involve 4x5 rigs and 3441 and 3401 Feisols.

Would a 3401 be adequate for a Phillips Compact II or would you really need to go for the 3471 with it's 12kg limit. My biggest lens is the 305 G-Claron.

On a related note, I hate the twist locks on my G1345 Gitzo they got so tight after a while, what are the Feisol twist locks like ?

I find the Feisol collars easier to use and more comfortable on the hands than those on my Gitzo 1325. The Feisol collars aren't round like the Gitzos and don't have the ridges that make your hands burn. They're smooth but multi-sided (I count eleven sides in alternating patterns on mine). That makes them easy to grip and turn.

Oh yeah, I felt that burn last night. I like the G1345, but my palms can't take it !!

I use a 3471 with a wehman 8x10 and 300mm lens. I can hang my kelty from the hook underneath and have everything I need right there.. check it out: http://flickr.com/photos/rootberry/5...7600300905593/

I second the 3471 (The one I use) or the 3371 if you feel three leg extensions are somehow sturdier (they aren't) for 8x10.
