    Smile Feisol CT-3442 Tripod

I received the Feisol CT-3442 tripod about a week ago and I am impressed! I ordered the option with the leveling head and I also ordered the center column. I probably won’t use the center column but its there if I need it. This thing is so light I can’t believe it.

My 5x7 Technika weighs around 12lbs and my Bogen tripod weighs about 8lbs with the 410 geared head. That’s 20lbs over my shoulder and I’ve made a couple of though hikes recently and I’m too old and out of shape to carry that load (oh, yea, my lens pack and other gear weighs in at around 35-40 lbs).

I usually carry the camera/tripod over my shoulder (as most of you probably do) and my shoulder is sore (yes, I have padding but not enough) on a regular basis. I discovered last night that I can carry the camera by it’s leather strap handle, with the tripod attached, and it feels like I am carrying the camera by itself.

As to the quality of the Feisol, I don’t know how you could expect more. There are a few things I will have to get used to but everything is well made and works smoothly.

I’m off to another Art Fair in a few minutes but when I return I’ll be giving it a workout.

Wrong name Ted. It's the "Why Throw Money At Gitzo When You Can Have A Feisol" Club. : - )

I just received one of the CT-3442 tripods as well -- as soon as I can get downtown to pick up a Bogen 410 I will take it out for a spin.

And boy, it is definitely light! Big switch from my Gitzo 1325, it will be nice to have a capable 2nd tripod.

And thanks to the guys around here for the great advice.

You mean the Gitzo 1325 is the capable second pod.

Hah! Along those lines my husband's first question was whether I thought I would be selling the 1325... Sometimes I think he would prefer that I had a "shoe thing" as opposed to GAS.

Yes, With my Arca Swiss B-1 head and my Canham DLC 45. It is much higher than I need! I also bought the spiked legs and the hard rubber feet are threaded so that I can use it with the spikes covered. Steve
