Being from Fort Collins, here are some things you may want to consider:
1. There is a llama trekking ranch ten miles west of Fort Collins. I rent the same two llama at the ranch from Stan Eble every year for the entier season. I use them to port my LF gear and camping equipment into the Colorado high alpine. In fact, I just came back from a 40 day trip. They can carry 75 to 100 pounds each, and they do not bite, kick, spit, or tug on the lead rope. Lamas can eat anything so you do not have to pack any food for them. These animals have allowed me to put the gear I need into the best areas for photographing, and they keep you fresh while hunting for those great comositions because they carry everthing for you. My yields have improved ten fold since I started using llamas. How interesting it would be to offer workshop titled "Using Llamas to Photograph in the Backcountry" or an actual photographic trek with llamas.
Stan Eble's website is http://www.llamapack.com.
2. The Colorado high alpine is generally not accessible until mid to late June because of the snowpack. The alpine is a beautiful and wondrous place to photograph. You may want to consider moving the convention date closer to that time to provide people with the opportunity to photograph the high alpine of Colorado while they are visiting.
Hope this helps...
Thanks for the comments and I hope there are more.
The altitude at Victor is 9,4?? feet so be prepared.
Keep the comments coming
we are working on more ideas for pre-conference workshops such as
making digitally enlarged negatives
alt processes - plat/pall printing, wet plate, ???
portrait and figure with lf
these are in addition to the workshops listed above.
We can take comments/requests for many more weeks.
thanks

Steve/Ted,
These all sound great. I'm sure I'd be interested in: the shooting workshop, the printing workshop and the portrain/figure with LF workshop. I'd also like to see an lf scanning workshop and maybe an intro to digital printing workshop (maybe Canon, Epson and/or HP would be willing to participate or provide hardware for those last two).
Dean
thanks, and yes your other suggestions are being worked on
steve
Is Victor accessible to anyone should we want to go shoot on our own?
Steve,
Either or both of the workshops with Gordon H. would be "must attend" for me. The shooting trip also sounds like fun. In fact, I'm starting to think I may need to clone myself so as to avoid missing anything!
Life should always be this exciting!
Best regards,
Steve "Doc" Duprey
are there any ideas on cost for the workshops yet?
