HI
I have just purchased a super speed graphic and was wanting suggestions for a good spot/light meter for under $30. Using your slr camers light meter is an option I know but, are their any specific models out their?
Thanks

I was just shopping for a spot meter myself. I didn’t look for a very long time, but I think I can say that you’ll have to pay more than that for a spot meter.
This is what I ended up with.
Good functional broad angle light meters can be had for under $30 (e.g., some of the smaller Gossen models "pre-owned"), but you are likely to have to spend a minimum of $75 for even an older used spot meter in good working condition.
If you want a good 1 degree spot meter, look at spending around $75-100.
sometimes you may find one a little cheaper, but generally $30 is way below market value. The off-brand models like soligor, spiratone, and adorama generally are a bit cheaper. The older minoltas are decently priced also. The pentax and zone VI generally fetch a premium.
For under $30 there's the Sunny 16 Rule. : - )

Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you do criticize them you'll be
a mile away and you'll have their shoes.
There are always the old Leningrad meters - mine cost $5, and it works. No spot though - reflected and incident only.
On the other hand it doesn't need batteries, so it either works or it doesn't.
Sekonic L206 is a 'view meter' with a view of about 12 degrees or so. I got mine for $35. There is a picture of one at the bottom of this page.

The minolta viewmeter 9 will give you 8 degrees. I like it. Here is a page about it: http://met.open.ac.uk/group/cpv/photo/Viewmeter9.html
Weston Euromaster 2. Not the best in the lowest of light, but no batteries (unlike gossen's greedy luna six's) and also quite possibly the best incident cones ever made for accuracy.
