Existing light is what`s there. Available light, is all that you can carry...

Forgot a watch one time and did a 10 minute exposure that way -- I used rocks to keep track of the number of minutes.

Otherwise, I often end up saying "Oh shit oh shit oh shit...the light is changing!"

"Dammit, I forgot to take out the darkslide!"

    and

"F'g wind! I gotta use a bigger hole!"

    and

    "S^!t! I overexposed again :-("

I remember one lab manager telling me about a customer whose slide came back pink. The customer swore up and down that it was the lab's fault. The lab manager checked back with Fuji, and the Fuji rep told them that's what the color will be when the film is in the holder backwards.

I don't have any really, but here are some that others
    could do better -

There was an old man from Kent,
    whose darkslide was probably bent.
    The shutter he did stroke,
but he stuttered in his mutter,
so he timed his exposure with a smoke.

There may only be two-three film speeds:
Slow film is faster than most deed,
Fast films are slower than you need.

    Expose for the shadows,
    develop for the highlights.

    In Exposure, less is more:
For contrast expose less and develop more
In contrast, expose more and develop less

    Goertz's Law:
    To blame is human.
    Whatever exposure you make,
the lab will have give and take.

Each second matters less after every minute.

Don't worry about it. You probably
grabbed the wrong kind of film anyway.

Most popular songs are two to three minutes long.

When using your new Brownie, keep
the sun over your shoulder for best results.

With the shutter set to ASA number:

    f4 Dim, overcast
    f5.6 Open Shade
    f8 Partly Cloudy
    f11 Clear, light haze, mornings
    f16 Bright Sun
    f22 Beach scenes

Film is cheap, time is not,
take a guess and bracket like hell

    Cityscape Shooters Axiom:
If you bring a meter, the reading will always be what you think.
If you leave your meter behind, the light will be tricky.

Ah. A remake of the old Bee Gee's classic. I'll have to listen to it.

    Judging exposure:

If your fingertips and nose are turning blue, you're overexposed.

If teenage boys keep dropping spare change in front of you so you can pick it up for them, you're overexposed.

If you're photographed by Ron Galella, you're overexposed.

If you're Paris Hilton, you're overexposed.
