With Portra gone in 5X7 what color film are you shooting. Where do you get it?

I have one box of Portra left. After that, I begin cutting down 8x10 film. I particularly like 400 NC. Not too grainy in a 5x7 neg.

Fuji Provia 100F.

For color chrome, buying 5x7 Provia 100F from Jeff at Badger Graphic is your most cost-effective option. If you are willing to pay a roughly 20% price premium plus additional shipping costs, you can purchase any of the current Fuji chrome emulsions in 5x7 from Dirk Rosler's Megaperls web site (http://www.unicircuits.com/shop/index.php?cPath=28). The site currently lists 5x7 Velvia 100 as their #1 best seller.

Megaperls does not list any Fuji 5x7 color neg film, but if you email them Dirk may be able to give you a quote.

Another option is to purchase 13x18cm film from Europe (which would allow access to both Fuji and Kodak color film stock), but this requires purchasing dedicated 13x18cm film holders (compatible with 5x7 cameras, but not with 5x7 film). There are a variety of archived posts that discuss the pros and cons of this approach.

Cutting 8x10 film is a very cost-effective option if you don't mind the hassle.

I have cut my own 5x7 film and 4x10 for years now. I have a set of gigs I use that make it plausible to do including punching an offset notch in the film to determine what side is the emulsion side. I use 8x10 Portra 160 VC film to cut my 5x7.

I would love to find someone who could make 5x8 film holders with a 5x7 opening. This way I would only have to cut the 8x10 in half. After development I could cut the film down to 5x7 in full daylight which would be a lot easier to do.

Can't say that I'm looking forward to cutting down films from 8x10 to 5x7 but, if absolutely necessary... I will!

I appreciate the feedback. I ordered some 5x7 chrome film from Badger. If It doesn't work for me, I will go to 8x10. I shoot some 8x10 and 4x5 portra now. I like the shape of the 5x7.

It is amazing what can happen in a year. Recently I bought 5x7 Portra film from BHPhotoVideo and 5x7 new film holders from calumet.

I don't know if Kodak is cutting the film again to 5x7 or if BH bought a run of the film.
I am thrilled that 5x7 color negative is available again.

And Calumet currently has new Fidelity 5x7 holders in stock (or at least their website let me order them) supposedly for same day shipping.
Who knows, I'll find out next week.

Now I'm confused (as usual). B&H still shows 5x7 Portra 160NC in stock, and let me order that to go with the new Calumet holders.
