    Canham 5x7: setting 0 position

I am playing with a Canham 5x7 camera and cannot find any mark for the 0 position of rise and fall on the front standard. How do other users set it? Do you have to mark it yourself? Thanks for the tips.

I carefully measured to get the front standard center, then too a punch and made witness marks on the front standards at the point where they should line up. Works fine and the marks are nearly invisible. The metal is very hard even though it's aluminum (I think).

I put a small piece of colored tape on the metal standard support. That way I can change it if I measured wrong.
