    The power of photography

I just watched the documentary film "Born into Brothels." It is a very moving story about a group of kids born and living in India's red light district. A woman photographer who begins a project to document life in the district ends up teaching the kids how to shoot. She provides them with cameras and film and contact sheets and prints. The work they produce and their resulting insights into the world in which they live is truly amazing. I heartily recommend it...just make sure you have a box of tissues near by.

I also enjoyed the film, and was very impressed by the quality of work that some of the children were submitting.

Photography can provide a window out or a window in. It's good to see it having a positive affect in other peoples lives, I know it has in mine.
