Refurbished Epson 4990

Hello! Looks like its time to put my money where my mouth is and get a refurbished 4990. Fortunately, I have a birthday coming up, so that'll make it easy for my wife!

Hmmmm . . . . It almost didn't work. They don't ship to APO addresses, and I've made other arrangements for shipping.

The on-line store wouldn't take my credit card. After 15 minutes hold on the phone, I decided that they probably didn't want my business. When I managed to speak with a rep, it seems that they cannot even bill a credit card if it has an APO address. Fortunately, I was able to place a secondary U.S. address on the card. Hopefully, it will be processed. Best regards.

You can purchase Silverfast from their website if it is not included or you are not happy with Epson scan.

I'll second that. I went the refurb 4870 route when they were $200. Ted shared a coupon code that saved an extra 20% so I only paid $160 w/ free shipping for my 4870. That's a great deal on a really nice scanner.

I've had difficulty having my credit card accepted at some websites. I found out you have to type in the same exact name and billing address as typed letter by letter, space by space that you gave when you first signed up for the credit card and see if and how it was recorded on the credit card site.

For instance if you typed an name and address of Johnny L Doe 1000 Lakeview ST APT 505 Wakamole, California but typed in at the Epson site John Doe Lakeview street 505 etc. or got any character off it causes problems.

Amazon.com didn't have a problem when I didn't get everything exact, but some photography forum subscription sites, Paypal and credit bureaus did. I re-entered the exact data and it worked.
