Sandy, it was part of the article in the May-June issue. The table includes the data on the 1000XL and and there are several paragraphs discussing its performance. Michael did the work so contact him for additional info.

    Ted,

Does Michael do all of the resolution testing, or do both of you do it.

If so, what is your basic procedure using the chrome on glass USAF or equivalent targets? By that I mean, how do you determine exposure? And how do you actually evaluate the resolution? Do you just look at it on screen and deterine lppm by applying the resolution values provided by the manufacturer of the target?

And do you use both positive and negative targets, or just one of the two?

    Sandy

RE: the betterlight. This is really a fascinating idea. Do you think I could do this with my canon eos 1ds? I have some excellent lenses including a good macro and could perhaps do 3 ev comp's to extend the dynamic range of the scan.

I just purchased my first LF camera on saturday from photomark. Its an arca swiss classic with orbix. Anyhow Im really excited to learn about LF shooting but dont know how to scan the images. Im also going to take Rod Kuklas' class at the local community college to get up to speed quicker.

I have a Nikon 8000 scanner with silverfast AI that I wet mount all my MF film with, but was wondering how to deal with the 5x4 film.

BTW this is my first post and I think this forum is excellent and respectful of its members.George

    George,

Using your 1DS for scanning would be good for proofing only. It would not match the performance of a good film scanner.
    Thanks,
