Linhof iii 4x5 camera with Leica Elmar attachment ? help

Hello, I have this Linhof iii 4x5 camera with Schneider 150mm lens and it came with a Leica Elmar lens attachment.

Someone took the Leica screw mount off, attached it to a machined barrel that slips over the 150mm front lens pack.

It's very well done but I cannot get it to focus at any position

The 150mm focuses properly

It is a collapsable elmar 5cm f3.5 and I have been using it fully extended.

Has anyone seen anything like this? or have any ideas how it could be used?

Try focusing on a near subject. The Elmar may be, in effect, a close up lens.
