I don’t know… it seems less “elitist” than it used to be. Of course there also used to be a lot more active members so maybe it just seems less elitist now because there is so little going on.
I’ve never found this to be an “elitist” group. Rather it is a collection of people who share an interest and try to pass on their knowledge and experience to those who ask for it.
I don't find this forum to be "elitist". Some participants are a bit opinionated, but not elitist.
We need to define elite.
If elite is doing what few others are attempting, I'd guess elite could be an apt term.
If elite is being an artsy-fartsy, then no.
Large Formats are too humbling for most artsy-fartsys.

Everything made by everyone is art, everyone who uses a camera is a photographer and of course there is a bit of elitism involved we still use film and don’t shoot from the hip. But people here are nice and go out of their way to be helpful (even giving strangers gear, materials and on some cases darkrooms to use, and prints to share ). … as seen recently even bending over backwards to offer advice to perspective enthusiasts who might seem difficult andstandoffish.. it’s good kind of fine art elitism, the kind other enthusiasts sites should aspire to be like.. vive le difference !
If you're failing your not trying hard enough. There is no distinction in being a conformist.
