Kodak 10 Inch f/6.3 Commercial Ektar - Help

Would someone in the know tell me the operation of this lens, please? I can't believe I'm unable to figure it out. I understand what C, H, G, and A (probably) are used for. <duh> I'm simply trying to open the aperture to compose a scene and can't figure out why I'm unable to do so. If I press F inward it automatically fires the shutter at whatever speed I have it set at, a second after pressing F. Item D doesn't move. I can move B downward (as shown in the image).

Cock the shutter (Press button F), and then press button E, which will open the shutter. To re-cock the shutter, press F again. If the shutter fires by itself when pressing F, then something is not working correctly. It shouldn't fire until you press D.

Thanks Paul. Bummer, there must be something wrong with the shutter mechanism. It fires right after I recock the shutter. I have an ILEX which works exactly as you describe.

Your lens is in a Kodak branded Ilex #4 shutter.

I wonder if there are any online sources for servicing this shutter?

I wonder if there are any online sources for servicing this shutter myself or a vender?
