We will not have to travel far from Memphis to get in the optimal zone. Probably a day trip to Hardy, Arkansas.

We're within about a twenty minute drive from the "official" edge of the path of totality, and will have family come visit from NYC area and Providence, RI. While a number of them (mostly the younger set) will likely drive a bit north to be in the path of totality...my wife and I will likely just hang here (perhaps with other "senior" family members) as we're so very close that we'd probably not notice much difference, and thus can also avoid the crazy crowds.

I'll be getting some eclipse viewing filters for my Swarovski bino's, and plan to sit back and enjoy!

Afterwards...all will assemble here for a post totality (almost wrote "post apocalyptic" ) feast!

I'm going to be in the back yard, Cleveland is right in the path. Problem is, the chance of overcast skies is ~50%, Cleveland is no sunshine capitol.

If I were to take pictures it would be of people watching the eclipse and of what do they do at totality.

There is probably some group somewhere who will be praying and dancing around an idol to get the sun back again. It's a great shaman ceremony as it always works.
