Auto log-out timing and message limits

I'm really getting frustrated when trying to intelligently and clearly formulate a response to a question on a forum thread and I get automatically logged out. Yes, I can log back in and retrieve the auto-saved content, but that isn't always all of what I had written. Sometimes I just give up.

Isn't there something we can do to lengthen the auto-logout time window or eliminate it altogether. I'm permanently logged in on Photrio. They never log me out. I think the platform is the same or similar. Really, give me the time to research a bit an make an intelligent and informative response.

Similarly, and in addition to the log-out time, responses to personal messages have a 2000 character limit. I just sent an answer to an inquiry in four installments... Really frustrating. While I understand the need for some limit, a 10,000 character limit doesn't seem too much to ask for. Some things just need detailed explanations.

Moderators, is there any hope for me here?

    Best,

    Doremus

The session timeout is currently set for one hour. That's pretty generous. If I need longer than that to compose a post or PM, I take as long as I need in a separate text editor and then copy the text over.

Re the message character limits: as you may recall, we've discussed this in the not-too-distant past:

Well, I guess I didn't realize that I'd spent a whole hour formulating a response. It sure didn't seem that long. Still, why no option to stay logged in longer like Photrio?

And, I'll try and take longer responses to PMs private from now on, or post them in the initial thread where my answers can benefit the entire community.

    Thanks,

    Doremus
