An actual jobo cpp2 motor replacement that exists? Check this out

Has anyone in the u.s. successfully acquired/installed this motor? I have an early model cpp2.
I appears to be a very close match to my oem motor except for the shaft which I can work around. The schematics/measurements of bolt holes are identical.

I've heard lots of people say "it's a windshield wiper motor, just get one of those", but I've yet to see one that's anywhere close to the original.

Could you take the gearbox off and look at the spec on the electrical motor itself? That might make it a bit easier, assuming the gearbox isn't totally shot.

I reached out to several suppliers of Valeo motors and the nearest i could get had a minimum order of 10 motors.

They sent me one that they thought would work, but there were a number of variables like the shaft diameter/length/taper etc that meant it couldn't be used.

I believe the 403 304 is the correct replacement as it's a number stamped on my CPA2 motor.

I'd be interested if you find a supplier.

No specs other than what’s on the gearbox. At this point, the motor runs fine outside the machine. It’s the controls that aren’t working.

If the controls aren't working I might be suspect of the speed controller mechanism. I would assume it's a PWM style speed controller. I'm not sure there is an easy way to test a PWM controller other than using a known good motor with similar specs as the original.

If it's the controller that's failed, then get a cheap 24vdc PWM power supply from the internet and wire with motor directly.

It's a bit of a pain, but easier than trying to fix or source a replacement controller circuit for the Jobo.

That’s my plan. Any idea how many amps the drive motor draws?

Hello,
You'll find pretty easily the maintenance manual for CPP2 on the net. It describes the different versions/upgrades over time, wiht both old and new PC boards + schematics.

Re. the motor regulation, pls note that the Jobo system features a progressive reduction of rotation speed, controlled by photo transistors, which nulls just before the inversion of rotation direction to avoid excessive strain of the gears and motor.

Not sure you can get this with a basic PWM controller.
