Lightbulb Shutter speed tester, marketed under the name "ALVANDI"

I designed an Arduino-based shutter speed tester about three years ago but recently decided to share it online. Here is a link to the project:
    https://github.com/sohrab1992/Shutter-Tester

At the time I shared the design with someone I perceived as a friend for his personal use, but he started selling devices based on it under his name “ALVANDI”. His website mentioned my name as the designer for a couple of months, but he removed it.

It was a fun project for me and never looked at it as a source for making money and never thought of it as something unique worth sharing. but his untruthful words and behavior made me do so, to prevent more people from paying for something based on an open-source platform they can build very cheaply and Its designer never intended it to be a product.

That’s a real shame that he took the intellectual property you developed and marketed it as his own creation. I guess one lesson to be learned here is to not give out the code but rather a compiled file that is much harder to decompile if you don’t want to allow someone to easily do just what he did. Thanks for putting the code out there for non commercial use.

The SELECT key is used to show the deviation of the speeds from the standard 1-stop increments shutter speeds.

    Smart!

If one wants a leaf shutter test stand similar to that ALVANDI, but would like to avoid any conflict of interest, a test stand like this can be made from parts I got at Home Depot. I think it is more robust anyway. It will work with any number of shutter testers with plans on GitHub.
Of course if you use a bigger box, you could put the Keypad Shield of sohrab's tester in the box and have a self contained unit, unlike mine that plugs into a larger unit.

    It's a pleasure sharing it.
Good point. I didn't imagine he could do something like that and how annoying this kind of behavior could be.

    Nice stand, looks pretty solid
