Anybody have an idea what this camera is?

    Hello all,

Thanks for the add! Once upon a time, I shot a fair bit of 4x5 but haven't shot any in a while. I was cruising through a for sale sight the other day and saw this camera, the seller bought it at an estate sale and doesn't know what it is and I searched but couldn't find anything that meets all the criteria. I haven't seen any other cameras that have a rear standard mechanism like this before and I have seen Wista uses a similar front standard mechanism with the spring but that's about it. Any ideas?

It has the look of the many Japanese 4x5s that were made. Good-looking machine!

What size is it? Judging by the markings on the ground glass, it looks larger than 4x5 or even Japanese Half Plate.

The rear slide mechanism looks more modern than what I have seen on the older Japanese field cameras. Also, many of those used book-form film holders, not the spring back of the OP’s camera.

Lastly, I believe it was I who hatched the idea that there were Japanese shops using standard fittings, and I did not have any firm information on which to base that speculation.
