lens removal if no slots available in retaining ring for spanner to grip

    lensboard 67C,,,

not large format but... i purchased a decent lens that came in a 67c lensboard. Issue is that the retaining ring was installed upside down with the customary slots snug up against the lens board. How to remove the ring?

Try a rubber sheet, such as are made for easier removal of jar tops.

It would help if we knew the lens. I'm assuming it is an enlarging lens only on the front of the board. Does the lock ring turn if you try to turn the lens counter-clockwise?

only thing that moves, is the threaded insert that covers access to the aperture blades.

You could, very carefully, drill a couple of small holes on opposite sides of the ring - making sure not to go through the lensboard...then use either your lens wrench or, more likely due to the shape of those holes...use a pair of needle-nose pliers to remove the ring. Just be careful to remove any metal filings which might otherwise migrate into the aperture adjustment mechanism.

Firmly grasp the lens body and try unscrewing it. If you must, get a channel lock pliers to grasp the retaining ring. Rodenstock Omegaron lenses aren't worth much.

good call but try rubber gloves instead of the pliers... it will twist right off.
