Exhibition using film salvaged from Central Camera Chicago fire (July 13-September 9)

    Hi gang,
Gallery 1871 in Chicago will show my latest work with an opening on July 13 from 5-7pm. The show will be up until September 9. All of the photos are from film that was unexposed and sitting on the shelf waiting to be purchased when Central Camera was set on fire in 2020. The prints are all 20x24 on silver gelatin.
    Thanks, Chris

Congratulations, Chris! Those are amazing photographs! Did you use damaged film from salvage to create those photographs or darkroom manipulations? Thanks for sharing. David.

    Very good website too

I think you are the guy who gave me a pile of almost out of date film and a case of Rodinol

Which was a big load on my bicycle trailer!

    Western traffic stopped for me!

    THANK YOU!

I wish I could see the exhibion, no more travel

and my fuzzy memory just recalled that gallery

    Hi David,
Thanks! All of the photos are from film damaged in the fire. The results are pretty much straight prints from the negatives. I decided early on that the story is the damage to the film so only a couple of prints received a minimum of dodge or burn; only to bring in a corner or something. This is a link to the gallery for the prints in the show. https://artwork.chicagoartsource.com...leihege/works/
    Thanks,
    Chris

Chris: thanks for your explanation! I specifically like the Indians (bowman) and Lincoln Statue. David
Randy: I remember that we met Chris together in our meetup in Chicago.
