Olympic National Park this summer

Be careful of planning any trips to Olympic National Park this summer as the Hurricane Ridge road is closed and may or may not open this summer due to a building fire at the Visitor Center. Deer Park Road is open and can get you high up as Hurricane Ridge with views to match, but be prepared to deal with a lot of traffic on a one-land gravel road with steep drop-offs. There are a lot of nice alternatives to these areas, but few you can drive to in the park.

Adding to Domaz's note, it's the Day Lodge on Hurricane Ridge that burned down, not the Visitor Center in Port Angeles.

Some good news: Hurricane Ridge re-opens this Tuesday June 27th.

I'll miss the Day Lodge, built in 1952.
