However, that brings up the issue of AI pornography. Seems like it would be easy to make, given the amount of porn on the internet. But the legal implications could be quite complex. Whose part belongs (or was scraped. Ouch!) to whom? Is that invasion of privacy? It's crazy.

I would say that if you find Ryan Mill's photographs uncomfortably erotic, then you are imposing qualities on the images that aren't there, at least not for most of us. I'm guessing Sally Mann's "Immediate Family" must drive you nuts! LOL

Also gotta laugh at "that mapplethorpe guy"! I guess it's a good thing to have opinions.
LOL. I've known plenty of people making soulful photographs of their own and other people's kids. its weird that Mills' work is listed under erotic ..

it was a known enough fact back in 2007 that "chatbots" were servicing 7 men at once and extracting bank information and $$ from them that it was a segment on NPR's "wait Wait don't tell me". no doubt it's being done with visuals

It is my understanding that utilities like Stable Diffusion will not generate porn that resembles real people. You cannot get AI tools to generate porn with a specific person's face involved. I don't know if the law has caught up with this yet, but there's no doubt that celebrities will be able to sue anyone generating content intended to portray that celebrity in pornographic imagery. It's as it should be.

I don't think any laws have caught up with anything, and as the opera is titled "porn built the internet" ...

Whoa! I'm not going to ask how you know. What if one supplied imagery of a celebrity look-alike? I know in the ad business, you can't use a celebrity sound-alike (and probably look-like) to endorse a product. But the internet is with wild west, pretty much anything goes.

Agenda,... hmm truth and good taste..

Some of the photos in that article on the guy would get you kicked out of Walmart if you tried to print one off on the photo printer.. One might get them to call the cops on you.

But the issue is, when someones uncle charlie or nephew charlie take photos with a long lens through the window at the local elementary school and end up with photos such as shown in that sally mann photo book, they spend YEARS being "bubbas wife" while serving a kiddie porn sentence.

Yet sturges and mann have the "professional photographer" tag on their name, and wealthy friends. And for them a felony becomes art..

While we’re at it let’s get those guys who exhibit babies with their penises on display in those porn palaces called churches.

    Apples and oranges.
Porn doesn't illustrate Biblical morality stories, nor does it appear in medical school textbooks, or even back issues of National Geographics from the 1930's
Porn is about cultivating a lucrative market and generating a profit as well as trafficking and blackmail.

Definitely don't google Bill Henson. He causes the local pearl-clutchers in Australia to hyperventilate too...
