Gitzo Tripod - Need Help on new purchase

    Hi All,
Help! After a very bad day I'm in need of a new Gitzo tripod. Having used the same Gitzo 320 since 1990, I need to know which of the new models is comparible to the 320. Cannot find my old specs manual, but I need to be able to support Nikon 600mm + F5, Bronica ETRSi, and Toyo45CF. With wide a range of cameras I'm looking for something friendly for hiking.

Gitzo's website has to much data. I have not needed to keep up with the tripod changes since the 320 was my companion for 16 years.

    Thanks for any assistance.

I found my Gitzo 326 on eBay - it is about the same age - why not look for another 320?

I doubt they make them any better these days... but I don't care for carbon fiber sticks either.

I like carbon for 35 mm and medium format, especially for hiking.

Get a Wimberley Sidekick tripod support for your 600 mm.

I think the equivalent for your 320 would be the 1320, or the 1326.

I have a Gitzo 320 that I never use any more. I replaced it with a Gitzo 1325. I like the Gitzo 1325 much better, it's lighter and the collars are larger and so easier to operate. I've used the 1325 with a Linhof Master Technika and APO Symmar 210 lens (pretty large and heavy).

When I posted before, I didn't know that Really Right Stuff has an excellent comparison page from Gitzo Tripods.

    Metal and carbon are listed.

Gitzo Tripod - Need Help on new purchase

    Thanks All,

The really bad day stems from the fact that the Gitzo 320 and Kirk BH-1 ballhead were waiting to be put back in the car and was backed over by someone not looking to see if anyone was behind them. Fortuntly I had already remove the Toyo 45CF and the driver missed me and the back gate of my SUV.

    Thanks for your help.
