Interesting that it took Lincoln Kirstein and MOMA curator John Szarkowski to rediscover her. Looks like there are two books of her photographs and a biography. This article in something called The French Quarter Journal offers an interesting slice of her life in New Orleans and several of her photographs: The Gay Lens: Frances Benjamin Johnston and Pops Whitesell
