    Developing Tri X 320 (4x5) in D76 1:1

    Hello,

Having a hard time finding correct information on development for this combination.

Does anyone care to share their method? I'm not sure what time for developer.

I use a spearman tank for my 4x5 developing.

    Thank you

There's a massive film development resource chart at

Yes, I saw that, just for the 1:1 D-76, it's for tray development and I'm unsure the time for a tank.

13:30 is my standard time for Kodak's film in D-76 1:1 at 20C, it gives me an aim contrast of 0.62 (ASA parameters).

This aims for normal subject luminance range on diffusion enlarger for Grade 2 paper including 0.4 flare.

You might find and are welcome to adopt slighly less developing time because the aim contrast for most general purposes is slightly less than ASA parameters.

OK I see 9 minutes in massive dev. They don't track aim contrasts so it's hard to tell. I use tray with several sheets shuffled. That extends the developing time because each sheet only sees fresh developer when its on top of the stack. When I develop roll film, the time is the same for me and I get the same contrast results.

Their tray time might mean one sheet. I would give between 9 and 12:45 closer to 12 if I were developing in a Spearman tank.

I made the same mistake Stearman. Anyway develop it more than 9 but less than 13:30 (I develop all my film too long compared to most other people) and you'll be fine.
