    Another home-made digital scanning back

A while ago, a UBC student, for his school work, made a digital scanning back out of a flatbed scanner.

Here is another implementation of that idea:
http://www.scannerphotography.com/ (site mirrored due to Slashdot effect http://hardware.slashdot.org/hardware/06/01/19/0137225.shtml)

What is interesting is that along a gallery of photographs, much more details are provided.

Thanks, QT - this one's more interesting in many ways, especially because he's gone much further in exploring photographic applications.

Here's a thread on the earlier project for those who are curious:

This might be a cool way to get a hi-res scan from a smaller negative on a flatbed. Put a flatbed scanner underneath your enlarger and scan that.

    Thanks folks for the links.

I think the whole idea of hacking together a cheap scanner and a view camera is really inspiring. Is this is going to be the pinhole photography of the future? Maybe my three year old son will get to do something like this if he takes after the old man and signs up for photography class in high school.

    :-)
