Dallmeyer Enlarger Lens

Hi

I would like to know if anyone knows anything about a dallmeyer de luxe 7" f/5.6 Anastigmat enlarger lens. I've recently picked up a Durst 138 from ebay and the lens is included.

I assume its probably a 175mm ( approximately ).

I've searched the net but couldn't really find anything on it. Thanks for any help

You have the lens, ask it how good it is.

7" = 178 mm. A little long for 4x5, a little short for 5x7.

You are absolutely right, but like you will probably appreciate, I still need to take the 4 hour ( if that short ) journey by car to London to pick it up on the weekend - and as usual, when one buy something new one is always burning to know whether you've bought something good or not.

The Dallmeyer Deluxe Series was a four element (probably Tessar) lens. The "Deluxe" designation seems to have referred to illuminated click stops being included. The 7" size was rated for use with 1/2-plate ( 6 1/2" X 4 3/4") negatives. (I almost said 4 3/4" X 6 1/2" until I remembered that you talked about going to London by car.)

I am guessing that your example is probably of comparatively late production,as Dallmeyer lenses go, and is therefor coated. I think you will find it to be quite useful.
