Printers (and 8x10 dev.) in the Kansas City area

Any recommendations for a B&W lab and custom printer in the Kansas City-Topeka corridor that prints 4x5 and 120/220? And ideally, that processes 8x10 B&W as well? My local lab has gone over to digital printing only, and cannot process 8x10 negs. Until I have the money and time to build a darkroom, set up a JOBO and enlarger, and become a real photographer who does everything himself, I need a local printer. Thanks very much.

    Davis,

Try Image Point at 1515 Grand, KCMO. I haven't used them since I built my own darkroom, but they were very professional, skilled and courteous.

It seems their website (imagept.com) is no longer maintained, or has changed URLs.

Image Point is no longer in business. If Custom Color won't do it, I can't think of a place in the area.

You might phone/email John at J & C. They are in that area and might know some people who could help. They have always been tremendously helpful.

    Cheers, Richard

That's sad news about Image Point...

There is also H&H Color Lab (hhcolorlab.com) in Raytown, but last time I checked they were only taking pros and you had to apply to become a customer.

I wanted to get some stuff printed on Kodak Portra a few years back and H&H was the only place in town doing it at the time. I never did find anybody that would do it for me locally...

Many people have developed in a windowless bathroom. You might try that, though its hard on the knees, until you can get a jobo or some other system.

With the jobo, of course, you don't need a darkroom at all a changing tent is just fine for loading into a tube.
